Children talking about Langston Hughes
Roger Williams middle school kids performing Langston Hughes

The Langston Hughes Youth Event has been a motivating program for our youth in Rhode Island. Through Langston Hughes’ words, the youth programming has allowed young readers to identify and share their artistic talents, particularly those in the urban core cities of Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls.

Originally, we had planned a youth event in September 2022 on “Identity.” but we still need to raise $10,000 to make this inspirational program that our youth deserve happen. The event has been moved to 2023 while we hope to continue raising enough donations in order to make this event the very best we can make it.

Will you help and support this event? We need your donations. No amount is too small, and your donations are tax-deductible.

"Youth" by Langston Hughes

We have to-morrow
Bright before us
Like a flame

Yesterday, a night-gone thing
A sun-down name

And dawn to-day
Broad arch above the road we came,
We march.
